Is Equal Original safe? Yes, Equal is safe. Is Equal Original safe for diabetics? Equal is appropriate for use by individuals with diabetes. Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-k) is a no-calorie sweetener that has been used in foods and beverages around the world for more than 20 years.
