Learn more about how ingredients of our new collection will deliver the great taste and quality you expect from Equal.Equal Classic:The sweetening ingredient in Equal Classic is aspartame, which is composed of two amino acids (the building blocks of protein). In the body, aspartame breaks down into the amino acids aspartic acid and phenylalanine, as well as a small amount of methanol–components found naturally in foods like meats, milk, fruits, and vegetables. The body recognizes and uses these components in exactly the same way, whether they come from aspartame or common foods. Association and the American Diabetes Association have also recognized aspartame's safety. In fact, it is one of the most tested food ingredients in FDA history and is currently used in over 6,000 products. Other ingredients are added to provide bulking and to make it easier to use. Equal Sucralose:Equal Sucralose uses the same sweetening ingredient as Splenda® No Calorie Sweetener. Sucralose is made using a multi-step process that starts with ordinary table sugar (sucrose) then replaces three hydrogen-oxygen groups on the sugar molecule with three chlorine atoms. This results in a stable sweetener that delivers a taste profile similar to sugar but is calorie-free. Sucralose can be used in place of sugar in many foods and beverages and is heat stable, so it's great for use in a wide variety of temperatures and works well in most home cooking and baking recipes. Equal Saccharin:Equal Saccharin uses the same sweetening ingredient as Sweet 'N Low® zero calorie sweetener. Saccharin has been used to sweeten foods and beverages without calories or carbohydrates for over a century, and has been the subject of extensive scientific research. It is one of the most studied ingredients in the food supply. Saccharin is approved in more than 100 countries around the world and has been reviewed and determined safe by the Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) of the World Health Organization and the Scientific Committee for Food of the European Union.
